英文摘要
This paper reports the advancement of technology in bridge design and construction for Sero Bridges in Japan. The Seto Bridges consist of a series of suspension, cable stayed, pestressed and truss bridges with spans ranging from 42.5 to 1100 meters. To overcome serious natural and environmental concerns such as earthquake, wind(typhoon), water depth and compatibility of the environment, technology in the design and construction of foundations and superstructures such as prefabricated steel caissons, underwater blasting, large diameter deep water boring, prepact concrete technique, computer controlled construction, etc. were specifically developed or further advanced and are briefly descibed in this paper.
